Could Zac Brown be the next Jimmy Buffett? While he has yet to establish a complete Margaritaville empire, Zac Brown now has his own cruise.
This Labor Day weekend, Brown will cast off on the inaugural Sailing Southern Ground cruise. Brown’s invited aides-de-camp like Levi Lowrey, Sonia Leigh, Nic Cowan and Joey & Rory, as well as other seafaring songwriters like Jason Isbell, Darrell Scott and the boys from Cadillac Sky.
American Songwriter correspondent Skip Matheny recently caught up with Jason Isbell for a swig-worthy segment in our “Drinks With” series. Read more here.
Darrell Scott will be busy this summer, as a member of Robert Plant’s touring band. In our July/August issue, we take a look at Scott’s excellent new double album, A Crooked Road. Read the review here.
At MerleFest, in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, last May, we hosted a classroom jam session with the uber-talented Cadillac Sky. Catch videos from the session here.
Don’t forget: there’s still one week left to enter the Zac Brown Cruise Contest, where one lucky winner will get the chance to perform on board the cruise, and also enjoy four days of complimentary food and room accommodations. Enter the contest here.
Might even Captain Zac, himself, be spotted in the galleys of the ship? We’ll be battening down the hatches, and riding this ship until the bitter end. Will you be joining us on board?
Sailing Southern Ground leaves Tampa, Florida, heading in a southerly direction for Grand Cayman Island on September 2-6.
