Peter Frampton was reunited with an old pal, Sammy Hagar, backstage at the Red Rocker’s August 28 concert in Nashville. Frampton, who kicks off his own tour in the coming days, posted a photo on his X page capturing him and Hagar chatting at the Bridgestone Arena.

The pic was accompanied by a note that reads, “Sammy and I have known each other since he was with Montrose in the very early 70’s. It was so great to catch up and see one helluva rock show. Thanks Sammy!”

Hagar played in Montrose from 1973 to 1975, before he launched his solo career.
Joe Satriani, whose been playing lead guitar with Hagar on Sammy’s The Best of All Worlds Tour, posted another backstage photo from the Nashville concert on his socials. The pic features him, Hagar, Frampton, and one-time Rascal Flatts touring guitarist Andy Wood.
Along with the photo, Satriani included a message that reads, simply, “Backstage in Nashville with @SammyHagar, @MrPeterFrampton, @AndyWoodMusic, and friends on the #BestofAllWorldsTour.”

Hagar responded to his tour mate’s Instagram post with the following note in the comments section: “so cool to see Peter Frampton again. We’ve known each other since the 70s and now in our 70s that’s a long time.”
The encounter marked the meeting of one current Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and one future honoree. Hagar was inducted into the Rock Hall as a member of Van Halen in 2007, while Frampton will receive the honor at this year’s ceremony, which takes place October 19 in Cleveland.
Hagar’s and Frampton’s Upcoming Tour Plans
Hagar’s wrapped up the North American leg of The Best of All Worlds Tour with an August 31 show in Maryland Heights, Missouri. As previously reported, Sammy’s band for the trek featured Satriani, ex-Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, and drummer Jason Bonham. Veteran touring drummer Kenny Aronoff filled in for Bonham during the last few shows of the tour.

Next, Hagar will bring The Best of All Worlds Tour tour to Japan for three concerts in late September.
The Red Rocker also has several “Birthday Bash” shows lined up in October. Hagar will be joined by some of his musical friends for celebratory concerts in Las Vegas on October 4 and 5 at the Pearl Concert Theater, and on October 11 and 13 at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Meanwhile, Frampton will kick off The Positively Thankful Tour on September 8 in North Charleston, South Carolina. The nine-date trek is mapped out through a September 23 performance in Northfield, Ohio.
Frampton likely also will be performing at the 2024 Rock Hall induction ceremony. The event will be held at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland on October 19.
