Mikael Jorgensen is the lead keyboardist for the band Wilco, and he now leads a band of his own called Pronto. Pronto will hit the road next week in support of their debut album, All Is Golden, which was released March 10th by the label Contraphonic.

Jorgensen, a native of Brooklyn, hooked up with Wilco in 2004, after a career spent gigging, producing, and DJing. In the winter of 2006, he began recording All Is Golden with musicians Matt Lux (Isotope 217, Iron & Wine), Jim Becker (Califone) and Russ Arbuthnot, an alumnus of Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio studios. The current roster features Greg O’Keeffe, Erik Paparazzi, Tunde Oyewole.

Pronto’s music has tantalizlingly been described as a mix between the Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, and Randy Newman. We think they sound a bit like Wilco. In a good way.
