Why You Probably Won’t Catch Garth Brooks Performing at His New Nashville Bar

Country music fans worldwide have patiently awaited the opening of Garth Brooks‘ brand new bar and music venue. Located on Lower Broadway in downtown Nashville, Friends In Low Places Bar & Grill is set to welcome its first patrons this weekend, beginning with a special live performance from Brooks on Friday (November 24).

The concert, live-streamed exclusively via Amazon, will give fans a rare opportunity to see the country star in an intimate honky-tonk setting. During a press conference from the venue on Monday (November 20), Brooks cautioned visitors that he doesn’t plan on regularly performing at his new business.

“I seriously doubt it for the same reason why we bowed out of ‘Entertainer,” he explained, referencing his decision to remove himself from consideration in the Entertainer of the Year category at the 2020 CMA Awards. “It’s the same reason why you don’t hear us pretty much on the radio anymore—it’s for the next wave. This is for those next guys [so] they can come here and play.”

The opening of Brooks’ bar comes after months of construction-related delays following its initial announcement to the public in June 2022. The Oklahoma native has been vocal about his drive to create a comfortable and welcoming space for music fans from all walks of life.

“I want this to be the Chick-fil-A of honky-tonks, where you walk in, feel like you’re in a good place, feel safe, and feel like the product’s going to be great,” Brooks remarked.

Although Friends In Low Places Bar has been crafted to offer a stage to rising artists, its opening night will also feature another award-winning country hitmaker. Ronnie Dunn, who appears on Brooks’ latest single “Rodeo Man,” will take the stage during Friday’s live performance.

Fans can watch Brooks’s “Dive Bar” concert this Friday, beginning at 7 p.m. EST, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Music’s Twitch channel.
