Why Do Fans Keep Fighting at Mariah Carey’s Christmas Tour Concerts?

Mariah Carey has been making the news for her recent Christmas tour, but not exactly for good reasons. According to reports, fans keep getting into fights during her concerts.

The most recent offense happened over the weekend during a Saturday concert in Baltimore. Footage of a number of fans fighting during the show has been floating around online.

The clips show around five people getting physical at CFG Bank Arena, prompted by another fan throwing what looks to be a beverage. There were quite a few punches tossed around and one fan was put into a headlock. All the while, Carey was descending into a rendition of her hit holiday anthem “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.

Fans Fighting at Mariah Carey’s Concerts Is Becoming a Thing

Sadly, this isn’t the first time fans started fighting during Mariah Carey’s current tour. Back in November 29, several people got into a physical altercation at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. Likewise, the fight occurred while Carey performed “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.

In one video of that particular fight, several individuals who attempted to break up the fight unsuccessfully can be heard saying “Where’s the f****ing security?”

That’s a good question. Perhaps Carey’s team wasn’t exactly expecting her 1994 holiday hit to spur on so many in-crowd battles. It’s a great song, but not the kind of tune you’d expect to get listeners fired up in that way.

Despite the fights, Mariah Carey is still on her holiday A-game. Her famous Christmas song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” originally came out in 1994, and quickly became one of the most successful Christmas songs of all time. And yet again, it climbed the charts decades later in 2024 to reach no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

If you can handle taking a few potential punches, Carey has a few more dates remaining on her Christmas Time Tour. Carey has also decided to extend her Las Vegas residency, Celebration Of Mimi: Live In Las Vegas, into 2025. The R&B crooner will also release a 30th anniversary deluxe edition of her best-selling holiday album Merry Christmas on December 13.
