In 1975, Jr. William set out for an adventurous hike on Ajax Peak– a 10,000-foot mountain covered in snow, after wrapping up his album ‘Hank Williams Jr. & Friends’
The rescue team with six men took six hours to find Williams and carried him to the Missoula Community Hospital by helicopter.
He had to go through a seven-hour-long surgery, attended by five skilled doctors to repair extensive damage done by the fall.
He regained his consciousness and found comfort in the presence of his godmother June Carter Cash and his husband Johnny Cash.
But still, it was a long road to recovery for Williams including 17 facial reconstructive surgeries and relearning to talk and sing.
Despite the extensive recovery, Williams came back stronger than ever, with his iconic glasses masking the scars of his incredible survival.
