On Saturday, Snoop Dogg surprised the crowd at the Best Night of Your Life charity benefit when he joined Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly onstage. The trio performed “Boats ‘N Hoes” from the 2008 comedy Step Brothers.

The Best Night of Your Life event benefitted the charity Cancer for College. The foundation provides need-based college scholarships to cancer survivors. Over the last three decades, the charity has awarded more than $6 million in awards to cancer survivors.
Ferrell hosted and organized the night of comedy and music. Comedians Jon Stewart, John Mulaney, Roy Wood Jr., and others also took the stage that night. Additionally, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready enlisted Jack Black and Fred Armisen to form the one-night-only group Mike McCready and the Casual Acquaintances, among other musical guests. Snoop Dogg was not originally on the bill.
Ferrell and Reilly took the stage together in matching white suits. Then, they teased the song for around five minutes. In the prelude to the song, the Step Brothers stars shouted out nearly every city and town in the Los Angeles area. Finally, they went into the first verse of the song.
Before getting into the chorus, Ferrell stopped the performance, noting something was missing. He and Reilly agreed that their performance needed a little Long Beach flavor. Ferrell added that the song could use a “Kush factor.” Then, they welcomed Snoop Dogg to the stage.
The Doggfather didn’t just accompany the comedy duo in “Boats ‘N Hoes.” The trio also performed Snoop Dogg’s classic “Gin and Juice” for the crowd. That wasn’t all, though. The surprises kept coming.
After the trio finished “Gin and Juice” Reilly revealed that they had a surprise for the rapper. “Yesterday was a very special day. It was Mr. Snoop Dogg’s birthday,” he told the crowd. “We’re about to sing happy birthday to the greatest rapper in the world.” However, one can’t properly sing the birthday song without a cake.
Ferrell went backstage and emerged with a massive layered birthday cake covered in candles. True to form, Snoop Dogg leaned in and used the candle to light a blunt. He took healthy tokes off of it as the crowd, Ferrell, and Reilly sang happy birthday.
