Last night, the National took to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert stage to perform “Morning Dew,” a cover of a 1967 tune by the Grateful Dead. The performance comes in anticipation of the release of Day of the Dead, a special 59-track boxed set curated by the National and featuring a studio version of that very song.
The box set, out via 4AD May 20, also features covers from Courtney Barnett, the War on Drugs, Kurt Vile and Lucinda Williams, among many, many other artists. Proceeds from the set benefit HIV/AIDS non-profit Red Hot. It will be available in CD, vinyl and digital formats.
