It’s hard to believe, but when Willie Nelson showed up to shoot a video with Loretta Lynn at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium a short while back, the two country music titans hadn’t seen each other in 30 years.
“Willie and I got to meet and talk about old times,” Lynn said of their reunion and video shoot for the song “Lay Me Down.” “Willie is one of those people that even if you haven’t seen them for 30 years you feel like it was just yesterday. We have a natural respect and love for each other.”
“Lay Me Down,” which was written by Mark Marchetti, is a plaintive reflection on mortality that closes Lynn’s new album Full Circle. Watch the David McClister-directed video below.
Lynn is scheduled to return to the stage of Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry for two shows on March 26. Read our review of her new album here.
