Watch Kelly Clarkson Cover “I Want To Know What Love Is” by Foreigner (And Absolutely Crush It)

Kelly Clarkson is set to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight in honor of the famed rock band Foreigner. It may seem like an odd match, but Clarkson is actually quite the fan of Foreigner. She’s even covered the band’s music in the past.

Specifically, Clarkson covered Foreigner’s famous 1984 song “I Want To Know What Love Is” from Agent Provocateur back in 2016. And she didn’t need a huge production, either. Clarkson performed the song in the comfort of her own home. She was accompanied by the piano, and we’re all lucky she decided to turn on her camera. Her cover of this particular song was delivered in honor of the victims of the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting.

Fans can watch the performance below:

Clarkson’s always been an absolute jaw-dropper when it comes to covers. She’s covered quite a laundry list of songs on her Daytime Emmy award-winning program The Kelly Clarkson Show. She’s covered everything from “Yellow” by Coldplay to “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga to “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton, and has done so with flying colors. If she can take on “I Want To Know What Love Is.”

And if that wasn’t enough, Clarkson once again flexed her superb vocals on Saturday’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, with yet another breathtaking spin on the Foreigner classic—this time alongside Lou Gramm.

Is Kelly Clarkson a Foreigner Fan?

If her covering Foreigner isn’t evidence enough, Clarkson has also spoken about her respect for the “Feels Like The First Time” hitmakers. When it was first announced earlier this month that she would be performing in honor of the band’s induction, Clarkson gushed about the opportunity on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“This is pretty cool,” said Clarkson. “In two weeks, I’m gonna be at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, because I get to help honor the legendary band Foreigner. Which I am so stoked about! It’s gonna be so good. I am so honored. I hope I don’t mess up.”

Clarkson also excitedly reposted a promotional post on Instagram promoting the event.
