David Gilmour is preparing to launch his first tour since 2016 this fall in support of his upcoming solo album, Luck and Strange, which will be released on September 6. The longtime Pink Floyd guitarist has posted a video on his YouTube channel of him rehearsing one of his old band’s classic songs, “Wish You Were Here,” with guitarist Ben Worsley, a member of his touring band.

The clip features Gilmour playing a six-string guitar and Worsley on a 12-string guitar, as the two run through an abbreviated instrumental version of the 1975 tune. For most of the performance, Worsley picks and strums the chords, while Gilmour plays his recognizable solo part.

The video was shot in a rehearsal room with the two musicians surrounded by some of Gilmour’s various guitars. A drum kit also is spotted in the back of the room. The clip features a cameo appearance by Wesley the dog.
Gilmour generally performs “Wish You Were Here” at all of his concert. The song, which was the title track of Pink Floyd’s 1975 studio album, was co-written by David and Roger Waters.

About the Luck and Strange Album
Luck and Strange features eight new original songs, plus a cover of dream-pop duo The Montgolfier Brothers’ 1999 tune “Between Two Points.” The title track features keyboard parts by late Pink Floyd co-founder Richard Wright that were originally recorded in 2007 during a jam session inside a barn at Gilmour’s home.
“Between Two Points,” which features lead vocals by Gilmour’s daughter Romany, is one of two songs released as advance singles from Luck and Strange. The other, “The Piper’s Call,” features harmony vocals by Romany.

Gilmour’s 2024 Tour Plans
Gilmour’s tour in support of Luck and Strange kicks off with a six-concert engagement in Rome spanning from September 27 to October 3. He also has six concerts scheduled at the Royal Albert Hall in London from October 9 to October 15.
The Pink Floyd great then will head to the U.S. for shows in the Los Angeles area and New York City. He has an October 25 performance at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, followed by October 29, 30, and 31 concerts at the Hollywood Bowl. Gilmour’s last confirmed 2024 shows are scheduled for November 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
