Ever since hearing of jazz legend Tony Bennett’s duet with Amy Winehouse, the last recording the 27-year-old singer made before she died, the world has been waiting with great anticipation.
There’s a lot of pressure riding on the song, which is featured on Bennett’s Duets II album, due September 20 –an album that also features Lady Gaga, John Mayer, and Willie Nelson.
It can serve as a eulogy of sorts — or — as we came to expect from Winehouse’s erratic performances in recent years, just another uncomfortable moment in her tabloid-baiting career.
As it turns out, there was no need to worry. The song and the accompanying video act as a poignant and classy swan song. It’s enough to make anyone shed a tear.
All proceeds from the sale of the single will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which aids troubled youth. Buy it here.
