First stepping on stage during the 1980s, Clint Black quickly made a name for himself as he released his debut album Killin’ Time. He would follow its release with a career that included over a dozen albums and numerous No. 1 hits. Looking at his time in the spotlight, Black dominated the Billboard chart with songs like “Nobody’s Home”, “Loving Blind”, and “Killin’ Time.” Outside of the studio, Black helmed the series Talking in Circles. Welcoming some of the biggest names in music to the show, Black once talked with Vince Gill about the person he would sing to when he goes to heaven.

Much like Black, Gill also produced a prosperous career in music as he collaborated with stars like Chris Young, Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson, Patty Loveless, Brooks & Dunn, and Maren Morris. That is on top of his own studio albums that garnered him 22 Grammy Awards. While speaking with Black on Talking in Circles, the host asked Gill about what he will do once he get to heaven. While Gill admitted he doesn’t know if he will make it, he pointed to country icon Chet Atkins.
Fans Not Ready To Say Goodbye To Vince Gill Just Yet
Helping popularize the Nashville sound of country music, Atkins produced records for singers like Dolly Parton, Hank Snow, Waylon Jennings, and even the iconic Elvis Presley. Besides receiving a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, the singer won 14 Grammy Awards. Sadly, Atkins passed away at the age of 77 back in June 2001. Although passing away over 20 years ago, Gill continued to share his love for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member.
As for the song he would like to perform for Atkins if he makes it to heaven, Gill decided to pick a song from the singer’s discography. Released in the 1950s on the Mr. Guitar album, Gill noted he would love nothing more than to perform “Country Gentlemen.”
Although just a question, fans hated the idea of saying goodbye to Gill. One person insisted, “No, let’s not imagine Vince in Heaven. No, not right now. Maybe in 1000-plus years. That voice can’t leave us ever!” Another person added, “Vince, your voice is heaven!”
While continuing to share his voice with the world, it appears that Gill might already have some plans when he gets to heaven.
