Video Premiere: Sam Shelton, “Break Into Me”

Videos by American Songwriter

Meet Sam Shelton. Her upcoming album Reservoirwas produced by Aussie rocker Ben Lee, and features songs she co-wrote with Ben Kweller and Mandy Moore. Shelton launched her career singing alongside Zoe Deschanel, and as an actress has appeared on shows like Judging Amy and Bob’s Burgers. Watch her video for “Break Into Me” below.

“The video, directed by Graham Sibley, was shot mostly in an incredible art installation by Sylvia Heisl and Scott Taylor at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles,” says Shelton. “Graham suggested the space and it instantly spoke to me on an emotional level, as walking through the bobbing, jelly fish like weather balloons gave me a profound sense of vulnerability, which is the heart of what the song is about.

“We were also generously given permission to shoot in the Pucci furniture showroom, which provided such a great contrast in it’s sleek, modern, geometric angles. For me, the story is about a confined girl, stuck in the safety of her ways, who courageously, curiously explores what could be on the other side of taking a chance on love. ”
