Video Premiere: Kirby Brown, “Joni”

Check out this pleasantly simple video for Nashville-based singer-songwriter Kirby Brown’s new single “Joni,” a track off his recently released EP Out Of Exile 1. Brown’s band The Texas Gentlemen backs him on the track, which tells the narrator’s tale of woe at the hands of Joni, a woman who never seems to let him all the way in. The video, which was directed by Matt Bizer of Robot Fondue Productions, stars Libby Rose of Wildwood Revival as the ever elusive Joni.

“Of the songs we ended up recording at FAME in Muscle Shoals, this was one of the first I wrote. In so many ways, ‘Joni’ was the progenitor and catalyst for the evolving approach to writing I’ve taken these past few years,” says Brown. “What (I hope) it achieves in both accessibility and craft was a turning point for me at the time. That said, it was an obvious choice to lead off the release of the new EP.”
