Universal Music France plans to combine its record labels Mercury and Universal Licensing Music, according to Billboard.

A new name for the merger couldn’t be confirmed, but Olivier Nusse, director general of Universal Licensing Music, is slated to run the label. Nusse will continue to be head of Universal Licensing Music’s marketing department, which is not part of the combo.

Universal Music France will also make one flesh of its classical and jazz departments, Billboard reports.
It’s probably safe to assume these moves were done for financial reasons, as Universal Music France announced that about 20 employees will be released through these company shifts.
