Travis Scott Announces Song with The Weeknd and Bad Bunny

Now, it’s gotten real. On Wednesday (July 19), Travis Scott revealed that he will be dropping a new single featuring The Weeknd and Bad Bunny at midnight ET on Friday (July 21). Dubbed “KPOP,” the song will arrive one week before the assumed release date (July 28) for Scott’s long-awaited Utopia album, which has been in the works for nearly half a decade.

In the last couple of weeks, both The Weeknd and Bad Bunny have alluded heavily to being on Utopia, but never together on the same song. On multiple occasions, either The Weeknd or his manager Cash XO have been spotted with Scott’s now-infamous “Utopia” briefcase, which has only been wielded by those involved with the LP.

As for Bad Bunny, he revealed in a June interview with Rolling Stone that he and Scott had a song on the way in the near future, but never officially stated that it would land on Utopia, even though that’s now the likely outcome. Earlier this year during a show in Monaco, Scott actually previewed a collaboration with Bad Bunny. Check out the clip below.

Scott and Bad Bunny have never released a song together before, but conversely, the Houston rapper has made a habit of putting The Weeknd on every single one of his studio albums. Whether it be Rodeo‘s “Pray 4 Love” (2015), Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight‘s “Wonderful” (2016), or Astroworld‘s “Skeletons” and “Wake Up,” Scott has continued to prove the great chemistry he has with the Canadian hit-maker.

As of now, it appears that “KPOP” will serve as the lead single for Utopia. In 2021, Scott released a two-pack of promotional singles titled “Escape Plan” and “Mafia,” which were meant to precede a more immediate release of Utopia. However, the next day, his Astroworld Festival fiasco ensued in Houston, causing the deaths of 10 attendees and subsequently delaying the arrival of Utopia. Since the track list has not been unveiled, it is unclear if “Escape Plan” and “Mafia” will land on the album.

As mentioned above, July 28 will see Scott visit the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt for a one-night “Utopia party.” This is expected to be the same day the album comes out, which was mentioned then deleted on the show’s event page on ticketsmarche.com when the “Utopia party” was first announced.
