The “Unbreakable Smile” artist made a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show and discussed her newest EP, Tori, and how she’s feeling since her recent health scare this past summer.

On the October 10 episode of the talk show, Kelly recounted her experience in the hospital due to blood clots in her legs and lungs. “That was definitely a scary few days,” she said. “I actually ended up collapsing one night, and they found out that I had blood clots. And it was really crazy and scary.”

Thankfully, the singer/songwriter had the support and love from her friends and family as well as the medical team that allowed her to focus on recovering.

“My family was definitely there for me,” she continued. “I had a peace throughout most of it, but I was just kind of confused, and wondering what was going on. I thankfully had some amazing doctors who were able to just take care of everything and get me healthy. And it seems like it’s a manageable thing now. I feel amazing, they’re still monitoring me and everything like that, but I feel great.”

Kelly’s EP Tori came out the same week as the scare, and she had the option to delay or go through with the planned release date. The singer/songwriter decided to release it despite not being able to promote it in the way she was going to.

She told Hudson on the project, “I had my music scheduled to come out that same week. And I kind of had the option, ‘OK, do I want to push it back even more?’ And I decided, ‘You know what, I’m still going to put out this music, even though I can’t promote it the way that I usually would. I really want to still give my fans the opportunity to just listen to this music.’ Because this music is just so happy and fun, and I wanted them to be able to just have that.”

Fans and listeners are thankful for her recovery. Her music is such a guiding light to many. The Tori EP is just a taste of what’s to come with the full album.
