Earlier today, Searchlight Pictures released a new teaser for the film. The teaser features a preview of Chalamet singing the iconic 1965 Dylan classic “Subterranean Homesick Blues”. You can watch the teaser as well as the full trailer for the film below.
In the clip, Chalamet recreates the iconic cue card scene from the OG video for “Subterranean Homesick Blues”. The clip also features some behind-the-scenes video footage of the film.
What Will ‘A Complete Unknown’ Be About?
Timothée Chalamet will portray Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown, he also allegedly sings and plays a variety of instruments as Dylan, too. One can’t help but find that very impressive.
The film will also feature quite an all-star cast. Edward Norton will portray Pete Seeger in the film, Monica Elle Fanning will portray Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro will perform as Joan Baez, Boyd Holbrook is set to play Johnny Cash, and Nick Offerman will portray Alan Lomax.
The film will portray Bob Dylan’s rise to fame, with a particular focus on the controversy that surrounded the musician’s intentional switch to the use of electronic guitar in his music.
In a recent interview, Chalamet opened up about the choice to sing and perform as Dylan in the film, rather than rely on overdubbing and lip-syncing.
“Bob and his music reigns over culture,” said Chalamet. “It was important for me to sing and play it on set because it was in the spirit of the movie to do it live. Bob wouldn’t let himself be boxed in, which for me as a young artist, is the most inspiring.”
The film comes years after the cult classic experimental biopic I’m Not There was released in 2007. A Complete Unknown is directed by James Mangold and is set to be released in theaters on December 25.
