Thom Yorke Doesn’t “Give a Flying F—” if Fans Want a Radiohead Reunion—Respectfully, of Course

Producing hit songs like “Paranoid Android” and “Karma Police”, Radiohead watched as the band received countless awards and sold over 30 million albums. In 2019, the band even landed a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But a few years ago, the band decided to take a break. The last time they released a new album happened in 2016 with A Moon Shaped Pool. With fans urging the band to get back together for a special reunion, Thom Yorke decided to make his feelings about the idea crystal clear.

Speaking with the outlet Double J, Yorke believed he didn’t need to explain not wanting to return to Radiohead. “I am not aware of it and don’t really give a flying f—. No offense to anyone and err, thanks for caring. But I think we’ve earned the right to do what makes sense to us without having to explain ourselves or be answerable to anyone else’s historical idea of what we should be doing.”

Enjoying what they produced together, Yorke continued, “I don’t think we feel the need to live up to anything. That feels like a non-problem. We are in this privileged position where we are still able to make music because of Radiohead, so no complaints.”

Other Members Side With Thom Yorke About Radiohead Reunion

Back in May, Jonny Greenwood also discussed the future of Radiohead and his fellow bandmates, explaining, “Well, the Smile are on tour, Ed is making another solo record, Colin is playing bass with Nick Cave — they’ve just done five sold-out nights at the Sydney State theatre — so lots of music is being made. Just not as Radiohead.”

Although not eager to get back into the studio just yet, Greenwood promised that the members of the band continue to stay in touch. “We’re still talking all the time, we just need to make a plan and get some time together sorted out in advance. I’ve never been very good at that. Too busy d—— around in this studio.”

So for fans hoping for a Radiohead reunion, they will still have to wait and pray that one day, the band will get back together.
