The Weeknd Teases Unreleased Song with Future

For the first time in more than six years, The Weeknd and Future look to be releasing music together.

In an Instagram Live session on Monday night (April 10), The Weeknd previewed a new song of his. Including a second verse from Atlanta icon Future, the collaboration will add to the elite list of tracks the tandem has made together. After a beautifully harmonious Even though it’s wrong hook from The Weeknd, Future can be heard rapping about his significant other fulfilling all his desires.

The last time the pop legend and hip-hop powerhouse joined forces was “Comin Out Strong,” the second song on the track list for Future’s 2017 album HNDRXX. “Comin Out Strong” peaked at No. 48 on the Billboard Hot 100. Before this, songs like “Low Life” from Future’s EVOL (2016) and “All I Know” from The Weekend’s Starboy (2016) also racked up streams, reaching Nos. 18 and 46 on the Hot 100 respectively.

Present in the studio when The Weeknd played the song Monday, Mike Dean reportedly aided in production for the upcoming Weeknd-Future hit. Along with joining The Weeknd for his recent “After Hours Tour,” Dean has helped produce tracks for the Canadian superstar before like “Tell Your Friends” (2015) and “Moth To a Flame” (2021) with Swedish House Mafia.

The Weeknd has not yet revealed the title, release date, or cover art for the impending Future-assisted single. However, it’s possible that it could land on the soundtrack for his upcoming HBO original series The Idol, which is set to premiere at some point in 2023. The Weeknd, known professionally as Abel Tesfaye, is a creator, executive producer, and lead actor for the show.
