The Jonas Brothers are less than a week away from dropping their sixth studio collection, The Album. The 12-song tracklist is slated to arrive on Friday, May 12, before the sibling trio embarks on their much-anticipated North America tour.

Ahead of the album release, the Jonas Brothers caught up with Z100NewYork, to share the inspiration behind their chart-topping track, “Waffle House.” The happy-go-lucky single was a joint effort, as esteemed songwriters-producers Jon Bellion, Pete Nappi, Ido Zmishlany, Daniel Tashian, Tenroc, Algae, and Johnny Simpon had a hand in creating.

The Jonas Brothers released their debut single “Mandy” in 2005, which is featured on their first album, It’s About Time. The teenagers went on their American Club Tour a year later, supporting the five-track album. Since the group wasn’t of age to debrief their shows over alcohol, the family would gather at the only late-night joint open—Waffle House.
Deep conversations at the diner became a tradition on the road until the men turned twenty-one.
“Waffle House, it’s more of an idea of a place that we can go to that’s our comfort place,” Joe Jonas told the radio station. “I think people, a lot of listeners out there—you have a spot maybe your family went to growing up, or you go with friends, and you laugh, you cry, you fight, and you make up at this spot.”
The singer continued to explain why the Waffle House was their meeting place after every show.
“The Waffle House was for us, because growing up, when we were too young to go have a drink after the show with our band and crew, we’d go to places like the Waffle House,” the hitmaker explained. “Where it was the only spot open on the road.”
While writing the upbeat track that sonically targets each band member’s specific sound, the frontman said they bounced the idea off of other individuals in the industry.
“I think we’ve spoken to a lot of different people, and they’re like, ‘Oh my… that was this diner for me, or that was TikTok diner in New Jersey,” he added, referring to a historic eatery in their home state.
The award-winning musicians previously said that the sticky diner was their “sanctuary,” where they also developed some of their best ideas.
“It was the place we dreamt up ideas, the place where we worked through our problems together,” the three-piece band declared in a press release. “The place where we finally realized we could find our way through anything as long as we came together.”
The band debuted the bop during their five-night Broadway residency, giving a glimpse of their highly anticipated album to verified fans. “Waffle House” follows their harmony-soaked single “Wings.”
The Jonas Brothers recently kicked off Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix, a weekend-long race in South Florida. The intimate concert was held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, May 5. The group will kick off their nationwide tour at Yankee Stadium in New York City on Aug. 12, where they will play a three-hour set.
