After ending their lengthy run of shows in 2022, The Doobie Brothers have revealed an extension of their 50th Anniversary Tour. The 35-date tour marks the first time Michael McDonald, Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons, and John McFee have been on the road together in 25 years.

“We are thrilled to be back on the road in 2023 playing some cities we haven’t gotten to yet on this tour,” said guitarist Johnston in a statement.
The additional stops include Sparks, Nevada, Washington, D.C., and Uncasville, Connecticut, and two dates in New Brunswick, New Jersey and Morristown, NJ, among other dates.
The Doobie Brothers released their 15th album, Liberté, produced and co-written by John Shanks (Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus) and featuring 12 new songs written by Johnston, Simmons, and McFee, in 2021.
Over the band’s five-decade run, they have sold nearly 50 million albums worldwide, along with their collection of hits —”Listen to the Music,” “Long Train Runnin,” “Black Water,” “Takin’ It to the Streets,” and “You Belong to Me,” and many others in a career spanning their 1971 eponymous debut through Liberté.
In 2020, The Doobie Brothers were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and later released their autobiography, Long Train Runnin’ in 2022.
“A lot of people will be like, ‘Oh God you want to be out, die on the road?’” said founding member and guitarist Simmons, who is also the longest-consistent member of The Doobie Brothers. “Well, why not? It’s as good as going anywhere else.”
Simmons added, “I’d rather be doing something I love and be out here enjoying it. I wouldn’t be afraid of that. I wouldn’t feel bad about that at all.”
