1. “One and the Same” (with Demi Lovato)

Flashing back to Gomez’s early days, we have “One and the Same” from the Disney Channel original movie Princess Protection Program. Like any good DC content, the outlandish plot follows a regular ole’ Louisiana girl (Gomez) as she’s tasked with keeping the identity of a princess (Lovato) secret. Despite their different upbringings, they stumbled upon an oh-so-Disney life lesson: We’re not so different, after all. To drive home that message, the pair performed this rock-flavored anthem. Though Gomez has put out more “serious” projects since then, we can’t help but hold this duet dear. It’s charming and schmaltzy in the best way possible.

2. “Taki Taki” (with DJ Snake, Ozuna and Cardi B)

Gomez knows a hit when she hears one. Many of her collaborations go on to be runaway successes for both her and whomever she hops into the studio with. In 2018, she joined forces with DJ Snake, Ozuna, and Cardi B for a year-defining dance track, “Taki Taki.” The reggaeton beat is infectious and Gomez flexes her ability to sing in two languages. It’s fun-loving and a guaranteed party starter.

3. “Anxiety” (with Julia Michaels)

Gomez has long been passionate about shining a light on mental health. She teamed up with a fellow sympathizer of that mission, Julia Michaels, for the 2021 track “Anxiety.” The sparse ballad sees both artists bare their innermost worries. Feel like I’m always apologizing for feeling / Like I’m out of my mind when I’m doing just fine, Gomez wistfully sings. We love an artist who puts her money where her mouth is. Gomez doesn’t just hock sentimental messaging about mental health, she expresses her own struggles for the world to hear.

4. “We Don’t Talk Anymore” (with Charlie Puth)

Charlie Puth is a pop music maven. Everything he touches turns to gold—or platinum in the case of “We Don’t Talk Anymore.” Puth tapped Gomez—another hit-making machine—for this breakup ballad in 2015. Naturally, the song took off. Gomez’s vocals are tender and intimate here. We think she shines her brightest on a song like this. She’s proven she can hit powerful high notes in the past, but it’s her smooth, soft vocals that we love best. Their harmonies are spot on, making the emotional core of the song hit even harder.
