At last night’s Grammys, Taylor Swift was joined by Georgia singer-songwriter Butch Walker on a rendition of Swift’s smash hit “You Belong With Me,” which also featured the talents of music legend Stevie Nicks. Watch Walker, Nicks and Swift’s Grammy performance here.

Walker’s involvement with the song goes back to November. During a residency at LA’s Hotel Cafe, Butch Walker polled his fans via Twitter: what songs should I cover? They responded in droves in favor of Taylor Swift’s song, which Walker debuted on his first night at the club. He later recorded the song on his banjolin, shot a making-of video, and posted the results on YouTube.

Two days later, Swift tweeted of the now-viral video: “@butchwalker covered You Belong With Me and I’m losing my MIND listening to it! Blown away.”

Walker’s latest album, I Liked It Better When You Had No Heart, is due February 23  on One Haven Music (it comes out on vinyl February 9.) Each CD will come with a free download card of Walker’s “You Belong With Me” cover.
