Fans sang popular hits from the Eras Tour setlist, including “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” “All Too Well,” and “Cruel Summer.” An additional video captured fans singing “Long Live” and tagging the post with various supportive Taylor Swift-themed hashtags.

On Wednesday, August 7, two Austrian citizens were arrested after authorities foiled a potential terrorist plot targeting large gatherings. Since there were projected to be more than 65,000 people at the three Taylor Swift concerts, the promoter—Barracuda Music—canceled the shows and refunded fans.

Allegedly, local Vienna establishments are offering trinkets to Swifties with a ticket. Fans on social media have reported that Le Burger is giving away free burgers to ticketholders, while other fans have reported that the Swarovski Kristallwelten Store Wien is giving out free necklaces to those with canceled tickets.

Swifties Still Gather in Vienna After Taylor Swift Concerts Canceled to Prevent Large Gatherings

Many people in the comments of the videos on Twitter shared their love for the Swiftie community, but also expressed caution at gathering in groups. Swifties have been waiting a year for the Eras Tour to come to Vienna, and to have it canceled sowed disappointment. However, if there’s one thing Swifties are known for, it’s gathering in crowds and yelling song lyrics.

“This is so cute but they need to be careful,” one person commented. Another wrote, “The whole point was not to gather in huge groups! Love this but be careful.” Yet another person commented, “oh my god i hope they all stay safe. this is actually a bit scary that they’re doing this but i get their intention, but still, i hope they keep safe.”

Additional information was released by Austria’s Directorate of State Security and Intelligence. Apparently, the 19-year-old suspect revealed that the plan was to “kill as many people as possible outside the concert venue.” Islamic State propaganda was found in the homes of both the 19-year-old and 17-year-old suspects.
