The R&B singer took to Twitter on Wednesday (January 25) to respond to news that her latest record has become the first album by a female artist to have 10 or more songs charting in the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks.
Moreover, the entire album has been firmly planted at No. 1 for six weeks on the Billboard 200 chart.
“This is also wild as fuck,” SZA tweeted of the exciting stats. “THANK YOU.” In celebration of the milestone, SZA has promised that there are some “surprises” that would be “coming soon.”
Acknowledging her No. 1 album, the singer wrote: “Also thank you for 6 WEEKS AT NUMBER ONE.. never thought I’d even get one week tbh.. God is so excellent thank y’all fr.” Find both posts below.
Though SZA didn’t offer any specifics as to what “surprises” were in store, she did previously reveal she plans to share a deluxe version of SOS.
During an interview with Most Requested Live this month, she revealed she had “100 or so” leftover tracks.
“There are still songs that didn’t make the album that I wanted to make the album, but that’s what deluxe and things are for,” she said.
“Sometimes it’s 10 songs that didn’t make the cut, so we’ll see,” she added. “I’m going to throw them all out there because… No one can say I didn’t give the music. So when I disappear for another five years, there will be more. There will be more to speak for me.”
The original version of SOS boasts collaborations with Phoebe Bridgers and Travis Scott. Among the unreleased tracks is a reported duet with Lizzo on a song called “Boy From South Detroit.”
