We talked to Apache’s guitarist Mike Harris about SXSW and their upcoming show at the Ryman.

You guys played the Billy Reid Shindig last year. Any favorite memories?

Hanging with Billy in a show environment is always a good time. The king of style also knows how to throw a great party. That said, I have great memories of seeing that guy having the time of his life last year.

Do you feel the pressure to dress more elegantly, given that Billy Reid is hosting?

No.

What are you most looking forward to about this year’s SXSW?

We are huge Springsteen fans so when we heard that E Street was going to play we all got excited. But I’m pretty sure that show is going to be impossible to get into. Personally, I’m excited to see Delta Spirit and I know that as a band we are all psyched to see Bear’s Den –there’s some incredible talent in that band.

You’re opening for Mumford and Sons at the Ryman this week. What will it mean to play such a venue?

We’re all honored to be asked to play at the Ryman and we’re all very thankful for the opportunity. I respect the history that has originated there but we are really just looking forward to the same thing as any show, having an insane amount of fun with friends.

You guys seem to be pretty good buddies with Mumford? How did y’all meet?

eHarmony is a wonderful website. It works.

What’s in store for Apache, in 2012?

We began writing new material at the beginning of this year. We’re working hard to manage a full tour schedule as well as down time to continue to create at home. I think you’ll see us continuing to tour the U.S . (and possibly a few other countries) as well as working on another full-length studio album. Maybe we’ll even perform a few new cuts for the folks down on 6th street …
