Crow is among the lengthening list of non-traditional rockers that have earned an induction into the iconic hall. She will be ushered in alongside Willie Nelson, Chaka Khan, George Michael, Missy Elliott, and Kate Bush.

Another Hall member, Stevie Nicks, has issued a congratulatory message to Crow, commending her for her entry into the “elite club.” Nicks was inducted into the Hall in 2019 as a solo artist and was previously inducted with the rest of Fleetwood Mac in 1998.

“My Dearest Sheryl,” Nicks wrote on Instagram. “Yes, you can call me a psychic – I have been listening to Sheryl Crow radio on Pandora for the last 4 days – so many of our memories came flooding back – and so my friend – Congratulations, Miz Crow for your upcoming induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

She continued, “I am so proud of you – It’s a very elite club for us women. I found out at 4 o’clock this morning and had to dance around my room for you. See you on the road! Love you, Stevie.”

Nicks and Crow have had a longtime friendship. The pair have also performed together a number of times.

“Stevie says that her songs are her children; that they go out and work on her behalf,” Crow told The Independent in 2002 (per The Nicks Fix) “And they do because they are very healing for people. I’ve yet to make that peace with my work because it doesn’t have that depth.

“Stevie should tell herself the wonderful things that she tells me — she’s way too tough on herself,” she continued. “It’s hard to be in the public eye, and getting older isn’t easier for any of us gals. Stevie’s still gorgeous, though, and I get frustrated with her because she doesn’t realize it.”

Crow was shocked about her induction into the Hall. “I’ll be honest with you. I’m shocked,” she told Rolling Stone. “Life is crazy! I could not have predicted it if I tried, especially in the early days of my career, coming from a town with three stoplights. Having grown up listening to Willie [Nelson] on my radio station, I just couldn’t have predicted it. There’s no way. Man, I’ll tell you what…it just testimony to the fact that you never know what can happen with a little hard work, taking some chances.”
