Stephen Sanchez has catapulted to success with “Until I Found You.” The retro-inspired track dominated Billboard‘s Hot Rock & Alternative charts earlier this year and continues to make waves for the Nashville-based artist.

Sanchez is quickly making a name on rekindling the romance of ’50s-style musicality. “Until I Found You” is a certified crooner with enough magic to help it transcend pastiche and become a timeless hit in 2023. It has caught the ear of fans and fellow musicians alike. Elton John thought enough of the track to ask him to perform at his final U.K. show at Glastonbury 2023.

“It was really exciting and he is amazing,” Sanchez told American Songwriter. “We developed a relationship over a period of time and he had come out to see the boys and I play at an event. After we finished playing, he asked me to come and play Glastonbury with him.

“It was a really exhilarating thing,” Sanchez added. “I was definitely questioning him about it like, ‘Are you sure you want me to come do this? It’s your last show in the U.K. and you want me to be a part of it?’ It’s pretty crazy.”

The song has no doubt primed Sanchez for a lucrative career. According to Sanchez, he had no idea how runaway the song’s success would be – particularly given the throwback style of the song.

“I had no idea,” he said. “That song was written about somebody that I cared about, as most songs are. That was it. It kind of feels like a unicorn in a way. It’s gone three times platinum, I’ve gotten to play it on TV. It’s crazy, with it being a ’50s-style song. That’s pretty special.

“It’s pretty surreal having people sing that song,” he added. “To see people connect to that ’60s/’50s sound is really exciting.”

Sanchez will release his debut album, Angel Face, on September 22. Among the track list is “Until I Found You,” and previously released tracks “Evangeline” and “Be More.”
