And New Jersey will never be the same.
On Saturday, May 23, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band wrapped up the North American part of their “Working on a Dream” tour at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ. Before embarking on the European leg of the tour, scheduled through August, however, Springsteen announced from the stage that he would return to the US to perform for three nights at nearby Giants Stadium before it closes its doors.
In 2010, Meadowlands Stadium, currently under construction, will replace the 33-year old Giants Stadium. Before demolition commences on the stadium to make room for parking and for the Meadowlands Xanadu complex, Springsteen will play concerts on September 30, October 2, and October 3. This will make Springsteen and the E Street Band the final musical act to play at Giants Stadium. The stadium will also host two U2 concerts on September 24 and 25, less than a week before Springsteen’s return.
Springsteen is expected to release more fall tour dates in the US within the next few weeks, but in the meantime, fans can purchase tickets for the concerts at Giants Stadium beginning June 1 at 10 a.m. EST. With Springsteen’s record of selling out 56 concerts at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in the past, you can bet these tickets will sell quickly.
