For his latest record, Sky of Dresses, orchestral folk artist Musikanto spent many long hours commuting back and forth from his home in Chicago to Milwaukee, to take advantage of the ambiance in his friend’s home recording studio.

His goal? To create his best, and most personal, album yet. But perfection was hard to come by — he’d often find himself rewriting the lyrics and coming up with new arrangements on the way back home.

Sky Of Dresses comes out August 2 on Grape Juice Records, the Chicago label that signed him last year after an impressive live performance. You can pre-order the album here. We’re excited to bring you the debut of “Take What You Need,” the album’s plaintive, harmonica-laden second track. Take a listen below.
