Maia Sharp’s new album Change The Ending drops August 28 on Blix Street/Crooked Crown Records. Change The Ending features guest vocals from Bonnie Raitt, who Sharp will tour with in October (she also can be found singing on Raitt’s latest album Slipstream).

Sharp’s songs have been recorded by Raitt, the Dixie Chicks, Cher, Keb’ Mo’, Terri Clark, Lisa Loeb and Trisha Yearwood, to name a few.

“I like ‘The Bed I Made’ for the story that comes with it,” Sharp tells American Songwriter.

“I was going to put this on my album, Fine Upstanding Citizen in 2005, but Bonnie Raitt asked very nicely and with no pressure at all if she could be the first to release it on her album of that same year, Souls Alike. I don’t think it’s ever occurred to me to say no to Bonnie Raitt. Besides, I knew I could just release it later, but then it wasn’t really a fit on my next album, Echo. It was, however, perfect for Change The Ending and so, here it is, co-written with David Batteau and inspired by a combination of real events in my life and David’s interpretation of the Odyssey. I know that sounds strange but somehow it all made sense.”
