The album marks the first recording since frontman Henry Garza fell from a stage in Los Angeles early this year, sustaining serious injuries and putting him on a lengthy road to recovery. The incident provided perspective to the Garza brothers, which took effect on their music.
“We nearly lost Henry, man, and that was a big change for us,” said Jojo Garza. “The whole experience was a wake-up call for us. It made us rethink every aspect of our lives and our careers, and it reminded us of what’s really important to us.”
In creating the adventurous new album, Los Loney Boys collaborated with notable co-writers including alt-country expert Radney Foster, pop tunesmiths Matthew Gerrard and David Quiñones, Black Eyed Peas collaborators George Pajon Jr. and Keith Harria, and Raul Pacheco of Ozomatli.
Check out “Don’t Walk Away,” the first single off of Revelation.
“’Don’t Walk Away’ is a story that I’m sure most of us have gone through at one time or another, being in a relationship with someone that doesn’t trust you, Jojo Garza explains. “They’re always suspicious about the things you’re doing. Working late, not calling all the time, the list goes on and on. Lots of folks have been there, especially those in the entertainment business. It sucks to lose someone you love because they don’t believe the truth. Basically we’re saying, baby don’t walk away from us, please believe me when I tell you you’re the only one. Love is a hard thing to come by … but true love is even harder to find.”
Revelation is due January 21 via the band’s LonelyTone Records.
