It’s been almost a year since the world lost Cowboy Jack Clement, the producer-songwriter-raconteur so beloved by the Nashville community. But the Cowboy is not really gone, so to speak, as next Tuesday will mark the release of For Once And For All, his third and final studio album which features guest turns from a who’s who of great musicians, including John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Bobby Bare, Duane Eddy, T Bone Burnett, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, Rodney Crowell, Buddy Miller, Dan Auerbach, Leon Russell, Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, Dickie Lee, Shawn Camp, Dierks Bentley, Jim Rooney, Jim Lauderdale, Will Oldham, daughter Alison Clement and a bunch of others.
Here is a premiere of one of the album’ standout tracks, “Baby Is Gone,” which sports accordion from Joey Miskulin. It’s a simple and elegant heartbreak ballad, with lyrics that perfectly capture the Cowboy’s wit and wisdom.
