Austin, Texas, trio Blue Healer are still in the final stages of preparing their debut album, but their new song indicates the upcoming release will follow suit with an accessible mix of indie rock and pop tracks.
Without wasting any time, “Only The Rain” steadily builds into an indie rock power ballad with shiny pops of synths and a blast of the drums. Although the track is heavily rooted in shimmering guitars and drums, bassist/guitarist David Beck says “Only The Rain” began as a “simple-story song” written on an acoustic guitar.
“A good friend was in town and we’d been up drinking and deconstructing the world,” he says. “It was one of those ‘in the moment’ kind of things. Once Bryan and Dees got a hold of it, it evolved to be very emblematic of the Blue Healer sound.”
Fresh off an appearance at SXSW, Blue Healer is about to kick off a spring tour starting March 26 in Houston. The song is set to appear on Blue Healers’ upcoming album to be released later in 2016. Listen to the track below.
