Slash doesn’t have much faith in the retelling of Guns N’ Roses‘ story as a biopic. “I just don’t see it happening anytime in the foreseeable future,” he said. The guitarist went on to say that a Guns N’ Roses biopic is not completely out of the question, but he can’t picture how a scripted movie could accurately tell the entirety of the band’s story.

“It doesn’t mean that it won’t happen ever, because who knows,” added Slash. “I can only think down the line so far. But I’ve never been able to envision how you’re gonna get … I mean it’s one thing to try and find actors to represent the people in the band, but the other thing is all sort of theatrical depictions of life in the music scene and the everyday life of musicians and all that kinda stuff.”
He referenced other band biopics and said that most seem fabricated, which wouldn’t translate with a band like Guns.
“It’s always some fabricated, over-exaggerated, fucking bullshit,” said Slash. “It’s very rare that you see a [rock biopic] movie that actually feels genuine, and so I don’t even wanna be a part of all that. I just don’t think that it would be done real justice.”

He continued, “I’ve seen a lot of bad [biopics] and they freak me out. I think the best ones are the ones that are a story that’s almost fictional, that are based off of somebody.”
Though Slash is not a fan of a Guns N’ Roses biopic, he has been involved in several films, including contributing to the Barbie soundtrack along with Wolfgang Van Halen, and recently co-producing the Canadian horror film The Breach.
In between touring with Guns N’ Roses, his band The Conspirators with Myles Kennedy, and piecing together a new solo album — featuring Demi Lovato — Slash also revealed that he’s working on a British TV series.
“I’m on tour with Guns N’ Roses until October, then in January I go out with my other band The Conspirators,” shared Slash. “I don’t wanna divulge too much, but I’m also doing a really exciting TV series in England. It’s an adaptation of a great book. You’ll find out what it is when the press release comes out.”
