Here’s a video of artist and friend-o’-the-magazine Robin Aigner covering Hank Williams’ immortal “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” with tourmate Annie Crane, during a Saturday night stopover at the Poplar Knight Spot in Aberdeen, North Carolina.
The two NYC singer-songwriters are traveling through the South, spreading the gospel of good music and acoustic revelry. Robin, who’s been part of the Brooklyn folk revival for many years, has been making self-booked forays into the Southeast since the early 2000s, where she’s been welcomed with open ears. This year, she was an emcee at the roots showcase Floydfest in Floyd, Virginia. Each time she tours, she gets a little bit further in her quest for global domination.
Aigner and Crane will open for Emmylou Harris at the Loveless Barn in Nashville, Tennessee on October 14. Their latest albums, Bandito and the Time Out New York-praised Through the Farmlands and the Cities, are available at CD Baby.
