What do you get when you cross the song “Smooth” by Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas with the B-52s singing style?

Well, in case you couldn’t imagine the answer, we have it for you below.

Singer Dalton “Happy Honda Days” Deschain posted his “magnum opus” in which he performed “Smooth” by Santana and Thomas in the way he thinks Fred Schneider and the B-52s would sing and perform it.

But wait, there’s more. Deschain has performed songs in this way from other artists like Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Beyoncé, and more.

Wrote Deschain on Twitter, “Here it is. My magnum opus. ‘Smooth’ by Santana and Rob Thomas, in the style of the B-52s.

“If you are wondering where the full version is, I put it up for free download along with all my other B-52s covers on Bandcamp. Yes, I am stupid enough to have done this many, many times. T-Swift, Beyoncé, & Harry Styles all got the treatment this year.”

Since posting the video, the tweet has earned more than 1 million views and the video has been watched nearly 400,000 times.

Deschain has earned a great deal of praise for the videos, including from Twitter user Rex Chapman and other writers and artists. So far, no word from the B-52s themselves, but it wouldn’t be too surprising for them to get wind of the video and add their applause.

The band, itself, recently went on tour this summer and fall, finishing with a show in Athens, Georgia in November. After that, the band announced an upcoming extended residency in Las Vegas, with a handful of gigs slated for 2023 in the spring, summer, and fall. See more HERE.
