Award-winning singer/songwriter Sierra Ferrell has delivered her first new original solo single since the release of her 2021 album Long Time Coming. Shared today (October 19), “Fox Hunt” is a foot-stomping folk tale of a hunter on the prowl.

Well, take the path down to the river
It is hunting time
To clothe the kids and feed the children
Oh the meat is fine
Don’t let them dogs out of your sight
Don’t let them slip through your hands
Just chase that fox down through the pine through the cold river bend
The infectious, fiddle-driven track serves as the first teaser from Ferrell’s upcoming yet-to-be-announced sophomore album. In recent months, the West Virginia native has released a string of collaborations, including duets with Margo Price, Zach Bryan, and Old Crow Medicine Show. She paid homage to two country legends by releasing covers of Willie Nelson‘s “Seven Spanish Angels” and Dolly Parton‘s “Coat of Many Colors.”
Since the release of Long Time Coming, the 35-year-old talent has earned an array of industry accolades. Ferrell won the title of Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2022 Americana Honors & Awards ceremony and has spent most of this year performing sold-out headlining shows across the U.S. and overseas.
