Shania Twain released “From This Moment On” as the fourth single from her classic album Come on Over. The song became a massive hit for Twain, topping the country chart in her home country of Canada and landing at No. 13 on the all-genre Canadian Singles chart. In the United States, it peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 6 on the Hot Country Songs chart. Today, it remains one of her best-known songs. However, in a recent interview she revealed that she wrote it with Celine Dion in mind.

Shania Twain on Writing for Celine Dion
The conversation turned to writing songs for other artists. Shaboozey talked about submitting songs to Beyoncé for Cowboy Carter and appearing on “Spaghetti” with her. When Shania Twain praised him saying no one could top writing for Bey, he disagreed. “You wrote for Britney Spears, you can top that,” he said. Twain wrote “Don’t Let Me Be the Last to Know” and Spears recorded it.
“I haven’t written specifically for other artists,” Twain said. “I’ve recorded all my own writing and I want to just not write for myself. I did write a song for Celine Dion years ago called ‘From This Moment On,’ by then my producer at the time wanted me to record it, and it’s one of my biggest songs,” she explained.
“So, I guess it’s better that I did it, but I would love to have had her record it. I just wrote it with her in mind,” Twain said of the song. The ‘90s country legend went on to say that she’d love to do more writing for other artists.
“I just feel writing for myself is kind of limiting because it’s my voice, it’s my range, it’s my style,” she explained. “Writing for other voices opens up my world as a writer,” she added.
