Santana’s Most Recent Music Release

Carlos Santana’s most recent single was a collaboration with Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run DMC, a song titled “Let the Guitar Play” that was released in January 2024. The track is a reworked version of “Song for Cindy,” an instrumental from Santana’s 2021 studio album, Blessings and Miracles.

The song featured Santana on lead guitar, and DMC on rapped vocals. Carlos’ wife, Santana drummer Cindy Blackman Santana, also contributed to the track. “Let the Guitar Play” was co-written by Carlos, DMC, and Narada Michael Walden. Walden also co-produced the tune with Lino Nicolosi.

A 12-inch single pressed on tye-die-colored vinyl and featuring three versions of “Let the Guitar Play” was released on November 29 as part of the 2024 Record Store Day Black Friday event.
