The world of portable music hasn't eradicated the physical format yet-SanDisk just released its new slotMusic cards. MicroSD memory cards containing an album each will be on a shelf near you starting this week. The cards come preloaded with one album and will retail for about $15. At 1 GB, there's room for anything else the artist chooses to include, such as album art, photos, or videos. Each card comes with a tiny USB adapter so that it works with any computer, or you could simply put the card into your cell phone. If you're thinking you don't want to take the back off of your phone every time you need to change an album, SanDisk has something for you, too. The Sansa slotMusic player debuted alongside the cards and sells for only $5 more. They player is simply a microSD card reader, without memory or computer synching capabilities. It's a little less than three inches long, by about an inch-and-a-half wide and an inch-and-a-half thick. There will also be artist-branded players, which come with the artist's slotMusic card and retail for $35. An armband for the player will be available, as will wallets for carrying multiple slotMusic cards. All four major label groups are on board with the format, with music from about 40 artists to be in stores before the holidays. Those artists represent a variety of current artists, including Coldplay, Keane, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Weezer, Kelly Clarkson, Tim McGraw, Sugarland, Daughtry and Leona Lewis. Some classics appear, too, like Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, ABBA and Lynyrd Skynyrd. And because I know you're wondering, yes, you can get the Don't Quit Fitness Bundle.
