Adams took to social media to further explain his reasoning for canceling his shows. “First of all, thank you, thank you for making all the shows last year and this so incredibly special,” Adams wrote in a lengthy message on Twitter. “It’s been all the dreams at once and even on the toughest of nights you have made it a dream.

“Behind the scene however I have been struggling with my health,” he continued. “My sobriety has been my anchor and as year two approaches I think God for that clarity.”

Last year, Adams announced his sobriety and took responsibility for claims made against him in the #MeToo movement.

“There are no words to express how bad I feel about the ways I’ve mistreated people throughout my life and career. All I can say is that I’m sorry. It’s that simple,” Adams wrote at the time. “This period of isolation and reflection made me realize that I needed to make significant changes in my life.”

In his cancellation statement, Adams went on to explain that his solo shows were becoming a strain on his health and well-being. “I always give the shows everything I have and as anyone who saw the solo tour last year knows I play 3 hours or longer,” he added. “I have to play the long game here so I can keep playing for you as long as I can. For me to be at my best, I have to recover from what has been a relentless spell of illness.”

He assured fans that rescheduled dates would be announced: “as soon as possible.” The rescheduled dates will likely be slated for 2024.

“I am so sorry to all the folks who have already bought tickets and were excited for the solo shows,” he said, wrapping up his thoughts.
