Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Runaway June has returned with a fiery new anthem “Make Me Wanna Smoke.” Marking the group’s debut, with its new incarnation of Natalie Stovall, Jennifer Wayne, and Stevie Woodward, under Quartz Hill Records, the track strikes a chord with anyone who has found themselves in a lingering relationship that should probably come to an end.

You make me wanna smoke / You make me wanna quit / You make me wanna drink ’til I’m sick of it / Make me wanna hide away my heart / You make me wanna let you take it way too far / ‘Cause loving something bad for me is all that I know / I’m probably just pushing my luck (Uh) / There you go lighting me up / You make me wanna smoke (Ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh) / Make me wanna, make me wanna smoke (Ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh), the sing in the chorus.
Written by Jason Sellers, Ella Langley, and Bobby Hamrick, the song encapsulates the internal struggle of a conflicted heart. With production by Mickey Jack Cones, the new tune is in keeping with Runaway June’s signature three-part harmonies at the forefront.
“‘Make Me Wanna Smoke’ has immediately become our favorite song to play live,” Runaway June shares. “It’s slinky and fun and such an empowering way to embrace the back-and-forth nature of a relationship that may not be the best for you. We’re so excited to share this one!”
The new song is the follow-up to their previous rock-infused ballad “BROKEN HEARTS (DO BROKEN THINGS).” Runaway June is set to hit the road this summer with tour dates spanning California, Colorado, and beyond, including a performance at CMA Fest in Nashville on the Chevy Riverfront Stage.
