New York-based singer/songwriter Regina Spektor collapsed during her sound check last Wednesday night at the Ryman Auditorium (Nashville, Tenn.), 10 minutes before her first scheduled performance at the historic venue. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for observation, and according to publicist Steven Trachtenbroit, the collapse was due to a severe inner-ear infection that “caused a sudden case of vertigo.”

Although the Ryman show has been re-scheduled for December 6th (at which ticket stubs for the previous show will be honored), the past week has been complicated for Spektor due to the illness. As a result of her Nashville collapse, she was forced to postpone her Atlanta, Ga. and Norfolk, Va. shows originally scheduled for Nov. 14 and 15. The shows have been rescheduled for December 5 and December 8, respectively, and all tickets will be honored or refunded.

According to her website, Regina’s North American tour will now continue as planned. She was able to perform in Charleston, WV last Friday, despite reports that she is still feeling ill. According to the Duke University Chronicle regarding her expected Durham, NC appearance tonight (11/19), Spektor is not feeling her best but is still expected to perform.

Regina Spektor is currently on a North American tour in support of her gold Sire/Warner Brothers album Begin to Hope, released this past June.
