A year removed from his full-length debut learn 2 swim, Maryland-bred teenager redveil will be dropping his upcoming six-song EP playing w/ fire on April 19.

Before making this announcement mid-day Wednesday (April 5), midnight E.T. saw redveil put out the EP’s third lead single “black enuff” with JPEGMAFIA. Per usual, veil self-produced the explosive track, as the funky instrumental with drums and horns is the perfect level of unorthodox for both artists.

On the song, both emcees use their verses to address concerns from listeners that they aren’t “black enough,” due to their fanbases with large white populations.

Who told that black boy had to hate himself?
Who told my sister she ain’t worth a cent?
Grin on my face from watching crackers melt
Stand on that shit, boy, I cannot pretend

Simultaneously with the release, the “black enuff” music video hit YouTube. Waving around the Jamaican and Pan-African flags, redveil and Peggy clearly use the visuals to demonstrate their pride in being Black.

“black enuff” is now the second collaboration between redveil and Peggy. The tandem first came together last month (March 24) on “Kingdom Hearts Key,” the ninth song on JPEG’s collaborative album with Danny Brown titled Scaring The Hoes.

The entire track list for redveil’s playing w/ fire has yet to be revealed. However, prior single “giftbag” will land on the EP, as veil confirmed earlier this year that his recent single releases were prepping fans for an eventual project. Unfortunately, his December 2022 song “2daside” will not be featured on playing w/ fire.

Releasing a day before his birthday, the new EP also serves as a celebration of his 19th year on earth as well as the one-year anniversary of learn 2 swim (April 20). Additionally, playing w/ fire will arrive in the midst of redveil’s “Water 2 Fire Tour,” which begins on April 11 and ends on May 24.
