The public prosecutor’s office in Berlin, Germany dropped the sexual assault investigation against Rammstein singer Till Lindemann, citing a lack of evidence. In June of 2023, Lindemann was accused of sexual assault and drugging by several women, with claims that they were allegedly being “recruited” to have sex with Lindemann.

“The statements made by witnesses in the press reports have not been confirmed by the investigations,” said the public prosecutor’s office in a statement issued on Tuesday (Aug. 29).
The case against Lindemann was dropped since many of the accusations were made anonymously, according to the prosecutor’s office. “It was therefore not possible to sufficiently substantiate any allegations of the crimes,” said Sebastian Büchner on behalf of the public prosecutor’s office, “nor was it possible to gain an impression of the credibility of the alleged injured parties and the believability of their statements during questioning.”
In a brief statement on Instagram on Tuesday (August 29), Lindemann said, “I thank all those who have waited impartially for the end of the investigation.”

The investigation started in June after several women claimed that Lindemann, 60, had sexually assaulted them during band parties before and after Rammstein concerts. Lindemann denied the claims. A 24-year-old Northern Ireland woman who goes by Shelby Lynn on Twitter alleged that she was left bruised and vomiting for 24 hours after her encounter with the band prior to their show in Vilnius, Lithuania on Saturday (May 20). Lynn said she was invited to attend the band’s parties, including one where she claims she was drugged, and that Lindemann became angry when she refused to have sex with him.
“Till did not touch me,” Lynn later posted on May 30. “He accepted I did not want to have sex with him. I never claimed he raped me.”
German police then opened a sexual assault investigation against Rammstein. Kaya Loska, an influencer, who was interviewed by prosecutors during the investigation about her experience at a Rammstein show in 2022 said she never witnessed any of the alleged activity taking place.
“The publications of the last few days have caused irritation and questions among the public and especially among our fans,” said the band in a statement following news of the investigation. “The allegations hit us all very hard, and we take them extremely seriously. We say to our fans: It is important to us that you feel comfortable and safe at our shows—in front of and behind the stage.
Following the initial allegations against Lindeman, several commercial partners ended their relationship with the singer and band, including Universal, which distributes Rammstein’s music.
The band released their eighth album, Zeit, in 2022 and wrapped up the European leg of their stadium tour earlier in August 2023.
