The Rocket is almost ready for lift-off. On Friday (July 14), former Migos emcee Quavo released “Turn Yo Clic Up” featuring Future, a promotional single for his upcoming sophomore album Rocket Power, expected to release at some point this year.

All throughout the eccentrically produced song, Quavo and his accomplice Future deliver raps about their untouchable auras and impressive inner circles. Flexing his wealth and loyal friendships in particular, Quavo insists the listener needs to “turn your clique up” to get on his level.

Turn your clique up dawg
Turn your bitch up dawg
Tying these streets, can’t cross it
All these streets need bosses

On the other hand, Future’s verse includes several, more direct name drops. Referencing three of his celebrity ex-girlfriends Ciara, Lori Harvey, and Dess Dior, the Atlanta rapper takes direct shots at the former two’s partners that came after him, NFL player Russell Wilson and A-list actor Michael B. Jordan.

Big dawg status, bill hopper
I ball in his mall for my brothers
Goyard bag, tote the cutter
I got it out the field, fuck Russell
Go and ask Lori about the Patek, then go and ask Jordan ask Dess

The concept of Rocket Power and its impending release revolve around the death of Quavo’s nephew and former Migos partner Takeoff, who passed away in late 2022 just after collaborating with his uncle for their joint October album Only Built For Infinity Links.

“This album is for the Rocket, our true fans, and also this is my therapy,” Quavo said on Instagram in May while referencing Takeoff’s nickname “The Last Rocket.” “This album is a true reflection of how I feel right now. Sometimes I’m Good, sometimes I’m Down, sometimes I’m Disappointed, sometimes I fall apart but then I ALWAYS find my strength again. I know everything might not be alright right now, but the rocket showed me a way to make it RIGHT!”

Since Takeoff’s death, Quavo has released multiple songs dedicated to him, such as “Without You” from January, “Greatness” from February, and “Honey Bun” from March. Considering he has not unleashed the LP’s track list, though, it’s unclear if any of these will be seen on Rocket Power.

“Turn Yo Clic Up” is surely the safest bet of any of these tracks to land on the album, considering it is the only cut Quavo’s released since announcing the project. Additionally, “Turn Yo Clic Up” sees Quavo and Future’s fourth overall collaboration, following up songs like DJ Khled’s “Iced Out My Arms” 2017, Pop Smoke’s “Snitching” (2020), and Migos’ “Picasso” (20201).
