What inspired the Robot Guitar’s creation?
Just my everyday frustration of wasting my time tuning my guitar… Here it is, this perfect moment, and you just need to push record, but shhh…your guitar is out of tune again. I thought there must be better way. That’s why I developed Powertune, the technology used in the Gibson Robot Guitar.

Do you think this will be a standard technology equipped on all stringed instruments in the future?
I’m really convinced that this will be a standard technology. Only 100 years ago, people rode their horses to get to their job. Would you think about taking a horse to go to your job today? Technology is advancing, and so are we.

How long did the development of the Robot Guitar take?
I got the first idea around 12 years ago. Since then I’ve been working on it. The final product phase started around three and a half years ago.

Will people be required to wear a bar code after the 30 day beta testing period?
Only the Robot Guitar owners who work for music magazines and ask questions like this one! [More Kraut, Herr Reasor?]

What other inventions or additions to this technology are you currently developing?
Right now, there are limited quantities available of more Robot SGs and LPs in a metallic purple and metallic green finish. Besides this I’m working on a few very exciting new products, which I really would love to tell you in detail about, but unfortunately you have to be patient.

In the great war between man and machine…who will play this guitar, man or machine?
Man, of course! Being creative and therefore playing an instrument is a real stronghold of mankind. Machines can be used for many good things, but creativity is and [always] will be a human domain.
